I. Department Overview

The Program of Logistics Management was formerly known as Transportation Economics developed by the Department of Economics to admit students since 1994. It was changed into Logistics Management in 1998 after the reform on the catalog of majors initiated by the Ministry of Education.

The Program now has 16 full-time teachers (excluding laboratory staff), including 6 professors (including 1 Yangtze River Scholar), 6 associate professors, 5 assistant professors and lecturers, 15 of whom hold doctoral degrees. The teachers have organized and established research institutions such as the Institute of Transportation Economics, Institute of Logistics, Research Center of Internet Finance, mainly to carry out policy research on transportation, logistics and supply chain finance for Guangdong province and Shenzhen municipal government, and consulting on strategic development and planning of relevant industries and enterprises. The team of faculty has gained rich hands-on experience by hosting and participating in a series of scientific research programs besides teaching.

To align talent training with market needs for high-caliber logistics and supply chain management professionals, the Program has developed courses around the three emerging fields, namely supply chain finance, smart logistics and international port and waterway logistics. It also establishes a practical teaching system integrating "in-class practice", "innovative practice" and "social practice". Besides its strong team of faculty, the Program also prides itself on a modern logistics laboratory and an Internet teaching experiment platform with a total investment of nearly RMB 10 million, and a practice base comprising more than 30 famous companies such as Yantian International Container Terminals, China Merchants Logistics and Qianhai Financial Assets Exchange. It also partners with the supply chain finance associations and businesses to set up the Supply Chain Finance Class.
